Tensile knit

Here is a piece that I knitted on the Shima Seiki using nylon monofilament and elastic.

I then dyed it in turmeric.

And then built a wooden frame in which I intend to stretch the knitted construction.

This piece will be photographed for the Sample Catalogue.

DORA KELEMEN

Angel - These paper pieces by Dora Kelemen look as if they have been created from bun cases with holes cut out of the bottom!

Below are images from her Diploma Project - Translucent Puffy Jacket.

Photo Shoot Venue

The venue for our Sample photo shoot is a church.  I wanted a domestic setting for my knitting so I chose this serving hatch that opens up onto a dinky little kitchen.  I am in the process of knitting a piece that will stretch across the serving hatch and back into the kitchen, hopefully you will be able to catch glimpses of the kitchen setting through the knit.

Nora Fok

Cloud Nylon
The Jewellery of Nora Fok
22 January 2011 - 20 March 2011
The first ever retrospective exhibition tour by the extraordinary jeweller, textile artist and 3D designer Nora Fok at the Harley Gallery, near Worksop.
Nora Fok’s jewellery is crafted from very fine nylon microfilament, which she knits, knots, plaits and weaves by hand to make jewellery that is inspired by complex mathematics, geometry and the patterns in nature.
